Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence is an global leader in metrology and manufacturing solutions with technologies that drive customer productivity and product quality world-wide. Each year, thousands of visitors from over 70 countries  come together to explore the latest innovations in metrology at the HxGN Live conference.

In 2018, Hexagon approached us to design the "Innovation Hub,” an area of highly immersive experiences to welcome (and wow!) conference attendees while also showcasing new technologies.

Continued collaboration

Since 2015 (check this), OCTO has partnered with various Hexagon divisions to design interactive experiences for the annual conference. This year, OCTO was not only in charge of designing booths for the PP&M division, but also the entrance and centerpiece of the conference. The aptly-named Innovation Hub was to be more exciting, more interactive and more accessible than ever before.

Go Big (& Then Go Home)

From conception, to ideation, concept iteration and execution of the final solution, the Innovation Hub is the result of close collaboration between the OCTO and Hexagon teams.

Hexagon wanted to showcase Xalt, a technology described as a digital transformation accelerator, but who’s function was not always easy to grasp. To aid in quick comprehension and engagement, OCTO combined a selection of technologies, visualisation techniques, and real world situations. The resulting Innovation Hub had five immersive areas, and allowed attendees to flow freely between experiences.

The final result was a combination of immersive experiences distributed between three areas : Catavolt, Refinery in the middle of construction, and Smart City. The latter was also divided in 3 spaces : Smart Street, Smart Construction and Smart Factory.

Making it work

In 2018, our involvement went beyond the design stage - this project solicited our management capabilities during design & production, installation and even during the conference. The OCTO team was the interface between all parties, whether it was  between Hexagon divisions, various production vendors or the finishing services at the venue. From floor markings and lightning for Extended Reality in a Smart City, to design and animation of Smart Factory metrics, OCTO was able to transform the venue for attendees.
