Brand Experience

As the construction industry continues to evolve, it is transforming and migrating towards a more digital world and process of working. The heavy construction division of Leica Geosystems was looking for a method of conveying a relatively involved message simply and engagingly to current and future customers at the Las Vegas 2020 ConExpo exhibition fair. By creating a large AR (augmented reality) table and working with the multiple entities of Leica Geosystems Heavy Construction division, OCTO represented the entirety of the construction process topographically and, through AR storytelling, were able to give a peek as to what a project looks like in a digital project life cycle. Show-goers understood how digitalization is a process of improving speed, consistency, and repeatability using digital solutions.

As the construction industry continues to evolve, it is transforming and migrating towards a more digital world and process of working. Show-goers understood how digitalization is a process of improving speed, consistency, and repeatability using digital solutions.

Strategy

Without a clear, concise, and relatable message to the end-user, an experience like the Leica Geosystems AR table would be nothing more than an oversized paperweight. With OCTO’s lead and true collaboration with the different entities and departments of Leica Geosystems' departments, the teams communicated fluidly. They condensed a once complicated and somewhat scattered message to a clean, concise, and relatable message.

Impact

The table represented an existing and active worksite in the South East of the United States. A massive amount of data from various devices such as laser scanners and drone flights had been collected over months of work. In collaboration with the core Leica Geosystems team, OCTO utilized and leveraged this data to carefully craft and amplify the user experience. The result was an immersive experience with real and existing data showcasing the digital twin’s power and point cloud technology in AR space while putting smiles and amazement on show-goers’ faces.
